So here’s where I stand (these things may change but right now this is what I think is best for me and a realistic goal of what I can manage) I will be pulling the Twin’s of Aurora Series out of publication. Let me explain a few things: I love Ava and Aiden and I am proud of the very first book I wrote. Yes it was my first and I happen to think it is a pretty cool story, but it was my first venture into writing and the proper steps weren’t taken; I didn’t hire a professional editor (I had an amazing proofreader for Sacred Fire) but not for Twins of Aurora, that’s not to
say I didn’t have a critical eye go over it ( I am not refereeing to myself: I am horrible with grammar) I didn’t give it the attention I think the story and more importantly the characters deserved and I was told not long ago in a rejection letter from a publisher that:
“We do believe it has very good potential. While we didn't read the entire manuscript, we'd love to offer a small bit of constructive feedback. We noticed that some scenes seemed like the events were summarized. If you were to draw out the events and describe it a little further, it would add a lot to the book. One other thing is character development. We felt that if you included at least another chapter that simply focused on getting to know the characters it would have made a big difference in our ability to bond with them, thus making the story more dimensional.”
I cannot argue or deny a single word that was said. They did go on to say some very nice things and told me that they thought I had a way with words in the Romance genre, which of course is incredibly encouraging and I will admit that I enjoy writing love stories and to be honest I enjoy adding the steamy scenes which I cannot do with YA. However I think I can write a pretty good teenage fantasy story. So what am I saying exactly?…. Twins of Aurora will be back, I just don’t know when, it will be getting a revamp and I will likely wait until the series is complete (meaning I have three more Novellas to write)
Moving on from there my current WIP which I am tentatively titling either Final Shift or Primal Shift: North America Pack 2 (I am open to your opinions on the title) will be the final book in Andre’s story; I love this series don’t get me wrong, but I feel like I can give Andre the ending he deserves in this book.
This leaves me the time and attention I need to work on the Immortal Heart Series. I’ve been asked a few times already, which brothers story will be told next? So let me give you a general rundown:
Immortal Promise—Lothar (Fall 2013)
Immortal Possession—Uriah (Early 2014)
Immortal Struggle—Cree (Fall 2014)
These dates may change as I have more time to focus and as long as readers continued to want to follow this series; I will consider doing more books and branching out on some of the other supporting Fae characters.
I have been given the rare opportunity to follow my passion and in the process I have met and connected with some amazing Authors and I have learned more then you can even imagine from them. From the little things that help me with the critical parts of writing to others who have challenged my creative process and guided me to consider things that I never would have in my writing. I’ve never had a sounding board for my ideas on my books and to be honest I still don’t. This passion I have for writing and reading came out of left field and there are only a few people in my life who can connect on that level with me. I know that among the new people I’ve met that there are at least a few who would let me bounce ideas off them (or at least I hope they would) maybe I should look for a partner to rewrite Twins of Aurora with me; 2 heads are better than one. I am off subject, my point is from here on out I want to be focused, I want to reign in my ideas and write amazing things for you all to read.
